VARIABLE INLET GUIDE VANE CONTROL
For applications where the fan volume must be controlled whilst maintaining a constant pressure output, CFW offers energy-saving inlet guide vane control.
Inlet guide vanes alter the performance of the fan by pre-swirling the gas before it enters the impeller, unlike conventional dampers, which merely create a system pressure loss.
When the vanes are fully open the resistance is negligible. As the vanes are closed the air enters the impeller with the same direction of rotation as the impeller. This causes a reduction in the total pressure generated across the impeller and a proportional drop in power.
The inlet vane therefore offers the engineer an energy saving alternative to the conventional damper, and/ or variable speed drives.
Inlet vane control enables the fan duty to be controlled with constant resistance, pressure and volume flow systems.
